PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Portage City officials set to cut the ribbon on their brand new $11-million dollar Senior Center Friday morning, May 20.
The Grand Opening is scheduled for 11.am at the new structure at 203 Centre Avenue located across from Portage Central High School.
The new Charles and Lynn Zhang Center will offer a number of amenities and services to the growing senior community in a 32,000 square foot building that expands on the former senior center.
Portage City Mayor Patricia Randall says its the latest in a series of such events in Portage, including the ceremonial opening of the new FedEx Operation.
“What other community has these capital improvements that are going on. I mean, it’s just truly exiting,” said Randall.
$5.5-million for the new Senior Center was contributed by the city, with another $5.7-million coming from community donors.
