The City of Dover will shut water off to several apartment buildings off Lilac Lane as repairs in the area continue for a second day.

Service to Buildings 12, 13, and 14 in the Lilac Garden Apartments will be shut off for five or six hours starting at noon.

The water woes in the area off Knox Marsh Road (Route 155) started Wednesday with the discovery of a leak in the nearby Ireland Well. The well itself is idle, but a water main runs through that area and provides water to area users.

The line was shut off on Wednesday for repairs expected to be complete by 5 p.m.. "Unforseen issues" developed, and the repair took until 11:10 p.m., according to the city.

Once service was restored, another leak was located near the intersection of Lilac Lane and Knox Marsh Road. Crews trying to locate the leak were sent home after working for nearly 24 hours, and will begin their work again at noon.

The second leak is believed to have been caused by contractors working on Lilac Lane, a private development.

S.U.R. Construction of Rochester was also brought in to assist with the repairs.
