Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher reamed out Alabama head coach Nick Saban on Thursday morning, responding with great fury to Saban's accusations that A&M âbought every player on their teamâ using NIL deals after they beat out Bama in recruiting for this most recent class. Fisher â who coached under Saban at LSU â called the comments âdespicableâ and also called him a ânarcissist,â among other things, during his lengthy rant, which had everybody grabbing their popcorn. This includes Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, who used to be on Saban's staff at Bama.
Kiffin took to Twitter with an immediate reaction to Fisher's bonkers press conference:
Did this really just happen??? @ClayTravis First time I can remeber being speechless. SEC Meetings in Destin đ«Ł https://t.co/vlvQW4YWQ4 pic.twitter.com/V09xHyiIXz

The Ole Miss head man also made this statement to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic:
Lane Kiffin to @TheAthletic about what was going thru his mind watching Jimbo light up Saban: âThis canât really be happeningâŠis this real life?'
âI still havenât moved from my seat. That should've been on Pay-Per-View." https://t.co/8TnXIij2jH

Lane Kiffin, one of us!
College football fans all over are certainly enjoying this conflict between Jimbo Fisher (and others) and Nick Saban, which is taking place as the new NIL system continues to turn collegiate athletics completely on its head. Now it's not just coaches and administrators raking in the big bucks, but players are getting to cash in as well. This adds a whole new element to recruiting and the transfer market, and it seems many of these big-name coaches are threatened by it.
Of course, it's these players who are the real reasons for college sports being such a big business. They're the product and should be able to earn money for what they bring to these schools. While the NIL system could certainly use some tweaks over time after just recently being implemented, the cat is out of the bag and there should be no going back. Players should be able to earn money through these deals, and in some cases this will make life more difficult for coaches.
Nick Saban and all these other coaches complaining are just going to have to get over it and adapt. It's a whole new ballgame out there.
