GREENSBORO, Ga. — At the recent Rotary District 6910 Conference in Greeneville, South Carolina, the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties was selected as the District 6910 medium size Club of the Year for 2021-2022. This marks the fifth year in a row that the Club has received this distinguished award.  District Governor Mike Berg presented the award to Club President Scott Gessay.

Each year, the District Governor creates goals for the 71 Clubs in District 6910.  These goals have a point system to provide a method of measuring performance of Clubs.  The medium size category Clubs are the most competitive of the four different size categories in the District.

To qualify for the award, each Club is responsible for completing tasks from different categories – Rotary Foundation, Administration, District Governor’s Goals, Leadership, Membership, Public Image, Georgia Rotary Student Program, Community Service, International Service, Vocational Service, Youth Service, and the newly-created area of focus Environmental Service. The submissions were then presented to the District Governor and the Club with the overall highest points total is given the title of Club of the Year. Out of the 71 Clubs in the District, the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties was judged the most outstanding for its accomplishments in 2021-2022.

The Club also received awards for its accomplishments in support of the Rotary Foundation, the Rotary Annual Fund per-Capita Giving Program, and Public Image activities.  In addition, the Club received the award for the Environmental Project of the Year award for their project of installing Osprey Nests around Lake Oconee.

Club President Scott Gessay stated, “The Club is honored to be recognized with several awards including the Medium Size Club of the Year at the Rotary District Conference.  These awards reflect the commitment of every Rotarian in our Club to put Service Above Self and to do the work necessary to make a positive impact in our community.”
