A 15-year-old student was arrested Tuesday after being caught with a Taser on the campus of Amos P. Godby High School, according to the Leon County Sheriff's Office.

The student was inside the assistant principal's office when, deputies say, the administrator noticed a Taser attached to a lanyard around the student's neck.

The student, who was not named, was then taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center and charged with possession of a weapon on school property, which is at least the 11th time a student in the district was booked on such a charge, according to a count by the Tallahassee Democrat.

Other incidents:How many weapon incidents have there been in Leon County schools in the 2021-22 school year?

In the last 60 days, two students have been arrested.

In March, a Lincoln High School student was taken into custody and charged after he or she was caught with a handgun-style pellet gun on school property. In late April, a 17-year-old student was arrested after administrators found him with a loaded gun on the campus of Rickards High School.

"As this school year comes to an end, we encourage parents to have a conversation with their child about what is appropriate to bring to school," said Sheriff Walt McNeil in a statement.

LCSO encourages families to discuss with their children the consequences of bringing a weapon to school and if they “See Something, Say Something."

The FortifyFL app is available to anonymously report Leon County School-related suspicious activity or call 850-922-KIDS. Also, as part of its Cease Fire initiative, LCSO in collaboration with Big Bend Crime Stoppers, will offer a monetary reward leading to the arrest of an individual illegally possessing a firearm.
