Apart from the Hummer EV and Yukon, GMC doesn't have any exciting products at the moment.

That's perfectly fine, considering its part of the much larger General Motors conglomerate, and has its place selling more upmarket models based on Chevrolets. It made some waves recently after the unveiling of the Yukon Denali Ultimate, but it stays quietly in the background for the most part.

However, a GMC design study recently popped up on the General Motors Design Center's Instagram page. GMC hardly ever features on this page, as it's primarily dedicated to Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac. But over the last week or so, there have been three GMC-related posts.

The most interesting is a front-end study penned by Zac Parkinson. The car doesn't have a name, but it's the first indication that GMC has plans to expand its EV portfolio beyond the Sierra 1500 EV.

It's pretty clear that the car is far from production-ready because it has no doors and a roofline too low for the average American. There's some GMC DNA in there but updated for the modern age. The lack of intakes also tells us that this car was designed to be a BEV.

What could it possibly be? If we had to bet, we'd say it's an EV design study for a possible Terrain replacement. The Terrain has already fallen way behind the competition and could use a new lease on life.

In addition to the exterior design sketch, the studio also uploaded three interior design studies.

Two of these designs are on the wild side, but the third seems to be perfect for the upcoming Sierra EV. You can even see a truck-like hood through the front window. Or it could be for a much bigger truck since GM is in a hurry to build as many heavy-duty EVs as possible.

The other two images give us an indication of where GMC is going with interiors. We hope it sticks with the layout that still has some physical buttons instead of the insane curved screen that looks like a bent iPhone 6.
