The college football world was the source of some drama when Alabama head coach Nick Saban called out Jackson State head coach and former NFL star Deion Sanders for allegedly paying top recruit Travis Hunter $1 million in NIL endorsements to attend the smaller school over other NCAA powerhouses. Saban drew the ire of Sanders when he said that Jackson State paid Hunter to join the Tigers then ā€œbragged about itā€, with the former NFL star saying he would be addressing the Alabama head coach's ā€˜lie.' Hunter himself responded to Saban's comments in a tweet sent out Thursday morning.

In a response to Saban, Hunter openly questioned how he was paid $1 million by Jackson State when his mother still lives in a three-bedroom house with five children. In other words, if SandersĀ reallyĀ made it worth Hunter's while with a large NIL deal, then the top recruit would have paid for a nice new home for his family with the money.

It's certainly a good point made by Hunter, the top recruit in the nation, who chose Sander's Tigers over the likes of Florida State, Georgia and Auburn.

Rumors about an NIL deal flooded social media following Hunter's Jackson State announcement, with Sanders making a radio show appearance to dispel them, hilariously saying that the university couldn't have paid the star corner because they ā€œhave no money.ā€

Clearly, Saban feels there was some funny business going on in the recruiting of Hunter, though the newest Jackson State star's response is another interesting twist in this saga.
