Man shot in back during road rage incident in northwest Miami-Dade

Victim listed in stable condition at hospital

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police are investigating a road rage incident that led to a shooting Thursday morning.

The shooting occurred in the area of Northwest 119th Street and 10th Avenue.

Surveillance video shows that before the shooting occurred, a man in a dark-colored sedan pulled up to the victim and they appeared to argue for a few seconds before both cars took off.

According to Detective Luis Sierra, who is also a spokesman for the police department, the victim was shot in the back and grazed by a bullet in the shoulder during the shooting.

He said the victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

People in the area who spoke to Local 10 News reporter Roy Ramos said the victim drove to a nearby area where he’s done odd-end jobs, seeking help after the shooting.

A bullet hole could be seen in the front windshield, the rear window was shattered, and a bloody T-shirt was left behind after the shooting.

“It is getting crazy. Today people are just shooting each other for nothing,” said attorney Scott Hidnert, of the Traffic Ticket Office.

The victim, identified as David Beasley, 35, had just left the post office off Northwest 119th Street and 10th Avenue when he and another driver got into an argument, Hidnert said Beasley told him.

“Somebody ran a stop sign or red light. The two of them had words and the guy was speeding, and the guy took out a gun and started shooting at him,” Hidnert said.

Police said the shooter remains at large.

“He was walking, he was talking. He was a little excited, but when he lifted up his shirt, he had an undershirt underneath it, and the shirt was full of blood,” Hidnert said.

Anyone with further information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
