Meghan McCain says that after leaving The View last year, she’s cut ties with all her cohosts but one. The conservative commentator revealed that she remains in touch with Sunny Hostin, who still hosts the show alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin.

McCain, who left her seat on The View in August 2021 after four seasons on the daytime talk show, appeared on the latest episode of the Reality with the King podcast, where she said Hostin is “the only cast member I still have a relationship with.”

“I have such love for her and respect for her,” McCain said of Hostin. “She’s a really good person and she didn’t demonize me the way a lot of other people did, for whatever that’s worth.”

McCain also suggested Hostin should get her very own show and could fill “Rachel Maddow‘s spot” on MSNBC, describing her former coworker as “by far the most politically savvy person on that show. And extremely curious in a way I didn’t find anyone else I worked with. Like, curious about different aspects of politics.”

Months after leaving The View, McCain also said she does not watch the show. “It doesn’t really enter my lexicon that often, even just the feeds I follow on Twitter and the news I read and the pop culture I consume,” she said, adding that she doesn’t miss her time on The View because of her “hard” final season on the show.

“I think my experience on the show suffered a lot with COVID and Zoom,” McCain said. “I think it’s a lot easier to hate someone through a box and through a screen and to not understand where they’re coming from.”

While McCain says she no longer watches The View, she hasn’t remained entirely oblivious to the show since leaving. McCain piped up to share her take on Goldberg’s controversial Holocaust comments in February, and called out Behar’s “pathetic” reply to her Valentine’s Day Twitter post later that month.
