CLEVELAND, Ohio – Through his music and showmanship, Prince Rogers Nelson ignited a passion in his fans that still radiates today.

It’s something we learned during the latest live recording of CLE Rocks, cleveland.com’s podcast that looks back on the rich history of music in Northeast Ohio and beyond.

The live podcast event titled CLE Rocks presents... “Purple Rain, Purple Rain: The Stories of Prince,” was held at the Music Box Supper Club in Cleveland on May 18.

It featured CLE Rocks host Troy L. Smith and a panel of music experts recounting the legacy of Prince, from his early days as a performer to his epic Purple Rain period to the memories shared following his death in 2016.[LISTEN HERE]

The panel of guests included Alan Porkolab, founder of Bogart’s concert club in Cincinnati, a favorite venue of Prince’s where he held a secret dress rehearsal for the 1984 “Purple Rain Tour.” Also on hand were Michael Gallucci, managing editor of Ultimate Classic Rock, as well as Michael Lesko and Lea Nesbitt of Ohio-based The Prince Project, the nation’s premier Prince tribute band that will perform at the Music Box on Aug. 12.
