Irish in the NFL: Tracking the Notre Dame rookies’ new jersey numbers

A few weeks removed from the 2022 NFL Draft, rookie minicamps are getting underway across the country. Eight first-year players out of Notre Dame are getting their numbers assigned as they try to make good first impressions.

Here is a look at the jerseys they will don in the near future and potentially throughout their NFL careers.

Indianapolis Colts QB Jack Coan — No. 3

Notre Dame number: No. 17

Status: Signed as an undrafted free agent

Notable Colt to wear No. 3: Punter Rohn Stark (1982-94) — Stark was a second-round NFL Draft pick, four-time Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro specialist in 1983.

Baltimore Ravens S Kyle Hamilton — No. 14

Notre Dame number: No. 14

Status: Drafted Round 1, No. 14 overall

Notable Raven to wear No. 14: Wide receiver Marlon Brown (2013-15) — Brown had 87 receptions for 791 yards and seven touchdowns in three years with Baltimore.

Los Angeles Rams RB Kyren Williams — No. 23

Notre Dame number: No. 23

Status: Drafted Round 5, No. 164 overall

Notable Ram to wear No. 23: Safety Rodney McLeod (2012-15) — McLeod spent more of his NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles than the then-St. Louis Rams, but he still had a huge impact on the Rams organization over four years. He made 48 starts and 246 tackles wearing blue and gold.

Washington Commanders LB Drew White — No. 50

Notre Dame number: No. 40

Status: Signed as an undrafted free agent

Notable Commander to wear No. 50: Linebacker Ravin Caldwell (1987-92) — Caldwell won two Super Bowls with Washington. Despite having not been a regular starter, he notched 8.5 sacks in the nation’s capital.

Houston Texans DL Kurt Hinish — No. 69

Notre Dame number: No. 41

Status: Signed as an undrafted free agent

Notable Texan to wear No. 69: Offensive guard Chester Pitts (2002-09) — The second-round draft pick in 2002 started every game for Houston during his first eight seasons, including a few as a tackle. He signed a one-day contract with the Texans in 2010 to retire as a member of the organization.

Las Vegas Raiders DL Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa — No. 69

Notre Dame number: No. 95

Status: Signed as an undrafted free agent

Notable Raider to wear No. 69: Offensive lineman Khalif Barnes (2009-15) — Barnes arrived in then-Oakland after four seasons with the Jaguars and ultimately made 117 starts for the Raiders. He even caught a touchdown pass in 2010.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Kevin Austin — No. 80

Notre Dame number: No. 4

Status: Signed as an undrafted free agent

Notable Jaguar to wear No. 80: Tight end Kyle Brady (1999-2006) — Known for his blocking skills and rarely missing a game, Brady spent a total of 12 years in the NFL. In eight seasons with the Jaguars he caught 241 passes for 2,500 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Note: Isaiah Pryor is now with the New Orleans Saints, but he does not yet have a jersey number.
