WAPATO, Wash. -- The Yakima County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of 51-year-old Daniel Torres-Nateras as a homicide, after they say he was stabbed at his own home in Wapato.
On the evening of Thursday, May 12th, Sheriff's Deputies and Wapato Police responded to the 200 block of West C Street in Wapato, after receiving reports that a man had been assaulted, and was bleeding from the chest.
Through their investigation, the Sheriff's Office learned two men knocked on Torres-Nateras' door that night, demanding money. An argument with the men led to a fight breaking out, and Torres-Naterres was stabbed in the chest.
When deputies got to the scene, they started first aid and CPR on Torres-Nateras until medics could arrive, but officials say he died from his injuries.
An autopsy for Torres-Nateras, who is a Wapato resident, is scheduled for today.
So far, no arrests have been made in connection to the homicide, anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Dunn at dustin.dunn@co.yakima.wa.us
