Southampton committed to Ralph Hasenhuttl as long-term manager with no plans to sack him despite poor run of results

RALPH HASENHUTTL remains central to Southampton’s plans despite the club’s recent downturn in results.

Saints have lost eight of their last 11 league games, winning only one of those fixtures.

It has seen their season go from edging close to the European places back in February to hovering above the relegation zone.

Luckily, Leeds’ horrendous form has ensured survival already ahead of the final day.

But it has not stopped talk of boss Hasenhuttl being in danger of the sack.

Yet SunSport understands Saints remain committed to the Austrian, who has been in charge since December 2018.

It is believed that some internal discussions amongst the club’s hierarchy were had about Hasenhuttl’s position.

But the conclusion was the 54-year-old continues to be fundamental to their project and he will be in charge next season to execute it.

There is a feeling though that improvements need to be made and some changes need to happen this summer.

That is likely to involve some player turnover, with the club open to offers for the likes of Nathan Redmond, Moussa Djenepo and Theo Walcott.

While the St Mary’s outfit continue to persevere with trying to sign hot prospects as they did with Armando Broja and Tino Livramento from Chelsea last term.
