After two major crashes in 2 days along Interstate 70, officials are urging people to make a change while driving.
One accident took place in Belmont County, and another proved fatal along the West Virginia/Pennsylvania border.
Ohio County Sheriff Tom Howard is urging people to stay aware of their surroundings.
Construction near the border of the two states has dropped the speed limit to 45 mph.
“It’s a rolling hill,” Howard said. “So, it comes up and traffic may look like it’s moving, but it’s actually stopped, especially a big tractor trailer. It may look like they are moving, but they are stuck in traffic.
“Please slow down. That’s what we’re asking. We want them to slow down, be very aware of their surroundings. Always watch. If you get stopped in traffic, be aware of traffic coming behind you. It’s hard to divert when that happens but be aware.”
