ROSEVILLE (WWJ) -- A Macomb County police officer who shot and killed a man armed with a 4-inch blade last month will not face any charges.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday that they completed the independent investigation into the April 26 fatal shooting of 57-year-old Frank Robles.

Officials said that investigators did not find any evidence to substantiate any criminal charges against the Roseville police officer, Chad Lee, who fired his weapon at Robles.

Robles approached officers with a knife after he crashed into a semi-truck on Groesbeck Highway nearly head-on.

Robles was asked by officers if he was okay, and he replied, "No." He also failed to respond to several commands from officers to drop the knife.

The officer shot Robles nine times after feeling threatened.

Investigators say the entire incident happened so quickly the officer had little time to react.
