Early Morning Crash Into the Gulch Off Myrtle in Eureka; Driver Flees the Scene

Just a little after 1 a.m. on Thursday, an emergency dispatcher told officers that multiple residents had called stating they had heard a loud noise, possibly an accident, in the vicinity of the Gulch off Myrtle Avenue just outside of the City of Eureka.

An officer soon confirmed that a vehicle had crashed into the Gulch and the driver had fled the scene, according to law enforcement reporting over the scanner to Emergency Dispatch.

A wallet with identification was left in the vehicle.

CHP was requested to respond to the incident.
