Earlier: A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday night in a crash in Davenport, according to a news release from Davenport Police.

About 8:23 p.m. Wednesday, Davenport Police, Davenport Fire, and Medic EMS responded to the intersection of Kimberly Road and Fairmount Street for a report of a car/motorcycle crash.

Initial investigation indicates a 2015 Dodge Journey was headed west on Kimberly Road and made a left turn onto Fairmount Street, striking an eastbound 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, the release says.

The man driving the motorcycle was transported from the scene to Genesis Medical Center, where he died from crash-related injuries. The motorcycle driver’s name is being withheld pending family notification, the release says.

The driver and sole occupant of the Journey was transported to UnityPoint Health – Trinity with minor injuries, the release says.

Brandon Rowell, who lives nearby, told our Local 4 News team he heard the crash.

“You just heard it … and it was bad,” he said. “There’s no way that that person’s going to be like 100% getting up and walking away from it,” he thought.

“Oh, I hear cars flying up and down this street. It’s a bad intersection, especially right here where this lane merges,” he said.

“I almost get into an accident every day coming home from work,” Rowell said.

Fairmount Street between Kimberly and Hickory Grove Roads was shut down for about five hours as investigators processed the scene. The roadway has since reopened.
