Day 1 of the NSAA track and field state meet saw plenty of excitement from Classes A and B, with Aurora showing out with two winners.
Gage Griffith repeated as champion in boys shot put with Carsen Staehr coming away with the boys triple jump in Class B.
Adam Central's Breck Samuelson took home the Class B boys high jump title, winning with a leap of 6-feet, 8-inches, while Gothenburg's Madison Smith captured the Class B girls discus crown with a throw of 138-feet, 6-inches.
Out on the oval, York's Kassidy Stuckey and Lexington's Ian Salazar-Molina both captured Class B 3200 meter wins, finishing in 11:22.87 and 9:36.81, respectively.
After Day 1, Aurora (2nd place, 20 points), McCook (3rd, 17), Adams Central (tied-4th, 16), and Lexington (6th, 13) all find themselves on the boys Class B leaderboard, with York (10) and Gothenburg (10) tied for fourth on the girls Class B list.
