BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A man was booked back into prison on a second-degree murder charge after the victim died in the hospital.

The Baton Rouge Police Department says 20-year-old Edmond Revelle was arrested on a murder charge for the involvement in the death of 18-year-old Hayes Sellers. Police said Revelle used his fist to hit Sellers after Sellers tried to stop a fight in a church parking lot on Nebraska Street earlier this month.

Revelle was previously arrested on second-degree battery before police re-booked him Wednesday.

Another suspect, 20-year-old Jayce Lambert, was arrested as a principal to second-degree murder for his involvement in Sellers’ death.

On Sunday, May 8, police officers responded to a call about an unresponsive male in a parking lot. According to arrest documents, Lambert got into a verbal fight with a female and Sellers tried to diffuse the situation before Revelle punched him. Sellers fell to the ground, hitting the concrete where he became unconscious, according to police. Afterward, Revelle and Lambert allegedly left.

A week later, on Sunday, May 15, Sellers died from his injuries in the hospital.

Witnesses told investigators that Lambert was intoxicated. Police said Revelle and Lambert are related.
