Hensley and Shifflett combine for six hits and eight RBI in final two games

Page County High School’s Kirsten Hensley and Savannah Shifflett fueled the Panthers’ final two wins at home on Monday and Tuesday to seal the Bull Run District regular season title in softball.

On Monday, Henlsey went 3-for-3 at the plate with two home runs and five RBI in a 7-1 win over East Rockingham. The next day, Shifflett went 3-for-3 with three RBI in a 4-2 win over Strasburg.

The senior and sophomore, respectively, went a combined 6-for-6 with eight RBI among the 11 runs scored in back-to-back district games this week.

With a final 12-2 record in the Bull Run, the Panthers will be top seed and host a quarterfinal game in the district tournament on Tuesday. Their opponent will be eighth-seeded Mountain View (0-13 Bull Run, 2-15 overall), who the Panthers have beaten twice — 18-5 on April 29, and 23-2 on March 29.
