A young man in Kingfisher is facing potential jail time for what investigators described as accidentally killing his friend.
Patrick Eugene Roedel is charged with manslaughter. While investigators said they do not think the 18-year-old meant to kill his friends, the actions described in the documents are unbelievably careless.
The incident took place on April 7. According to investigators, Roedel admitted to unloading his pistol, then aiming it at his friend and pretending to shoot him.
Investigators said there’s a video of him pointing the gun at his friend’s cell phone and pulling the trigger multiple times.
According to the documents, Roedel reloaded the gun and chambered a round. He told investigators he thought the gun’s safety was on but when he pulled the trigger, the bullet hit his friend in the chest.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to the documents, Roedel first told police his friend shot himself but changed his story once inve3stigators confronted him about the video and some other forensic evidence.
