EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Dispatch confirms a suspect is now in custody following a pursuit that started in Posey County on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit ended near Stanley and Sherman Avenues in Evansville.

Deputies say Kameron Smith had an active felony warrant for resisting law enforcement and possession of methamphetamine.

They also say he was previously pursued by authorities on Monday for the warrant.

The sheriff’s office says that once the chase entered Vanderburgh County, stop sticks were utilized but Smith continued.

Eventually, deputies found Smith near Sherman Avenue, where they say he struck a patrol car and fled.

The deputy involved in the crash used his taser on Smith and was able to take him into custody.

Both Smith and the deputy were taken to the hospital due to the crash.

Smith is now lodged in the Vanderburgh County Jail.

The deputy was treated at the hospital and released without any injuries.
