The Ford F-150 needs no help selling trucks. The Ford truck is basically a perpetual motion device at this point. The craziest thing about the F-150 is that it has a legacy it could ride, and still, Ford is making major improvements to the model. Even though most critics agree that the 2022 Ram 1500 is a tough pickup truck to beat, here are four reasons to buy the 2022 Ford F-150, not the 2022 Ram 1500

The 2022 Ford F-150 has more powertrain options than the 2022 Ram 1500

This is no easy statement to make. The 2022 Ram 1500 has a pile of engine options to choose from. The Ram 1500 has four engine options, all of which are cool. From the work-centric 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel to the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 in the Ram 1500 TRX

Be that as it may, the 2022 Ford F-150 has the coolest and most useful powertrain in the known truck-verse. When the Ford F-150 hybrid with the PowerBoost 3.5-liter V6 hybrid. Not only is this a highly efficient engine getting 19 mpg, but it also makes 430 hp. And if that weren’t enough, the Ford F-150 has more engine options than the Ram by a country mile. The 2022 Ford F-150 comes with seven different engine options.

The coolest aspect of the new F-150 is the built-in power generator capable of putting out 7200-watts. This feature is only available with the hybrid Powerboost model, and it comes at a premium price. Officially called Pro Power Onboard, the hybrid electric generator on the F-150 is only a $750 optional add-on. Considering that an equivalent generator from Honda would cost thousands of dollars, this is a deal and a half.

Not only is the Pro Power Onboard the most practical feature for a pickup truck since 4WD, but Ford also gave the pickup truck another monster feature. Starting in 2021, the F-150 got active onboard towing and payload weight scales. This removed the need to calculate towing limits for F-150 owners. It is a convenient and safe feature that should make towing a bit easier.

The F-150 is a powerhouse

Aside from the efficiency of the hybrid engine, the power output of this objectively more practical motor is immense. The 430 hp speaks for itself, but the 570 lb-ft of torque is a figure you have to feel to believe.

The F-150 is meant for everyday driving, work, and families and can still pull a 0-60 mph sprint in only 5.3 seconds. Granted, the Ram 1500 has the TRX model, but that is a functionally different truck. In order to get similar (actually more) power from the TRX, you have to spend big bucks and about 16 mpg.

Save money and choose the Ford F-150 over the Ram 1500

The 2022 Ram 1500 is the top-rated pickup truck from Consumer Reports.

As noted by Consumer Reports, the 2022 Ford F-150 starts at $30,495 and tops off at north of $80,000, depending on which options you choose. The 2022 Ram 1500 starts at $35,900 and runs up to $77,780, before any cool options.

Neither truck is cheap, per se, but they both offer a lot for the money. The 2022 Ram 1500 has one of the finest interiors in the truck segment, but the 2022 Ford F-150 is one of the most useful and practical trucks ever made. All of these benefits and the F-150 still, for the most part, costs less than the Ram.
