Man dies after attempting to break up dispute on Nebraska Street; suspect arrested

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — On May 8, Baton Rouge Police officers responded to the 2100 block of Nebraska Street regarding an unresponsive male in the parking lot.

According to the arrest documents, 20-year-old Jayce Lambert was engaging in a verbal altercation with a female in the parking lot. As the victim, Hayes Sellers, attempted to diffuse the argument, Lambert turned his aggression towards Sellers.

Authorities said as Sellers tried to protect the female, another male, identified as Edmond Revelle, approached Sellers and punched him on the side of the face, causing Sellers to fall to the ground and hit the concrete where he became unconscious. Revelle and Lambert, both of whom are related, allegedly left the scene.

Witnesses said that Lambert was intoxicated and was allegedly trying to fight anyone he came in contact with.

Police said Sellers was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and on Sunday, May 15, Sellers died of injuries caused by Revelle.

Lambert was arrested and charged with principal to second-degree murder.

BRPD confirms that Revelle has not yet been arrested on charges of second-degree murder.
