Former bank employee pleads guilty to embezzling from Webster thrift store

A Webster woman has pleaded guilty in federal court to felony embezzlement.

Angelica J. Gebur, who was 43 when she was indicted in February, pleaded guilty to the charge Tuesday at the federal courthouse in Aberdeen.

She admitted to taking cash from weekly deposits made by the Needs Anonymous Thrift Store in Webster, according to court documents. Gebur was an employee at CorTrust Bank at the time. The cash deposits included a note with the amount of the deposit, but not an official deposit slip.

Approximately $38,986 was taken from the deposits between March 22, 2018, and June 18, 2021, according to court documents.

The embezzlement charge carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. According to a plea agreement, sentencing recommendations will be made based on the sentencing guidelines after completion of a pre-sentence investigation.

Sentencing has been set for Aug. 8 in Aberdeen.
