Springfield's power company is preparing for energy blackouts.
Leaders from City Water, Light and Power (CWLP) addressed Springfield City Council Tuesday night.
During the presentation, they warned customers may experience rolling blackouts several times over the next few months.
CWLP Electric Division Manager Scott Rogers says they have been preparing for this issue but didn't expect it to happen this soon.
"We've had plenty of these the last couple of years we had 7 or 8 of them last year the alerts came out we notified the top 100 customers last week we had three of them - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday last week," said Scott Rogers, CWLP electric division manager.
Rogers says there are several steps that they can take before customers go dark but that if it does happen it'll only be 15 minutes at a time.
