The attorney representing the Sacramento man arrested for an Oroville mass shooting aboard a Greyhound bus in February is unclear how much longer he will represent his client.

In a short court appearance Wednesday morning, lead defense counsel, Robert Marshall, notified the court that he is unsure how much longer he will represent 21-year-old Assahdi Colemen for the alleged shooting. The attorney did not explain why while inside the courtroom and was unavailable to comment outside of it.

This comes after the court appearance last week where a psychological report of the Sacramento man and his mental competency to stand trial was discussed. Marshall, at the time, asked for a week to discuss the report by a court-appointed mental health professional with their own medical team before officially releasing the findings on the record.

Wednesday, however, Chief Deputy District Attorney Mark Murphy announced in court that he has seen no report that says the suspect is mentally incompetent to stand trial, only one that shows he is "competent." Regardless, a hearing was scheduled for June 1 to officially rule on the Sacramento man's competency and determine if Marshall will remain his attorney.

Coleman faces one count of murder, four counts of attempted murder and two weapon counts after allegedly shooting five people aboard a parked bus in an Oroville AM/PM parking lot on February 2, 2022.
