Police arrest 33-year-old after man found shot to death in Leavenworth apartment

Ryan Christopher Cheatham was booked without incident into the Leavenworth County jail for second-degree murder on Wednesday morning

Police say an arrest has been made in an early morning apartment shooting in Leavenworth, Kansas. One unidentified victim died Wednesday as a result of the incident. On Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at approximately 6:52 a.m. officers say they responded to a duplex in the 700 block of Osage Street on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male inside an apartment. Police say they obtained information about the suspect, who was located nearby in the 700 block of North 7th Street. The suspect, a 33-year old Leavenworth man, Ryan Christopher Cheatham, was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Leavenworth County jail on charges of second-degree murder just after 9 a.m. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
