And, they’re off!
Republic graduates 331, Ash Grove 52 in commencements
The Republic High School class of 2022 made their transition into adulthood during their graduation ceremony at the Great Southern Bank Arena on the Missouri State University campus on Sunday, May 15. During the ceremony, 331 high school seniors received their diplomas, marking the end of their time at Republic High School and the beginning of a new journey as they made their way toward the future.
During the ceremony, Dr. Matt Pearce, superintendent of schools, told the students that they had persevered during a pandemic and encouraged them to continue to persevere, but to also remember to take in and celebrate each victory.
"When we walk through that valley and clear the hurdles on the way to the top, it's important to soak up every moment of the peak, and congratulations symbolic of the peak," he said. "Enjoy the moment with your family and your friends. Tell your parents, your family and those who are special to you that you love them. Don't wait for a present, live in the present."
Three of the students' peers—Josie Fry, Tanna Fulks and Collin Chastain— gave their own speeches as commencement speakers.
