Acme man jailed on $250K bond, accused of raping boy

A 33-year-old Mt. Pleasant Township man is accused of raping and sexually assaulting a six-year-old boy in 2020-2021.

Brandon J. Hoffer of Acme was arrested and ordered held in the county prison after failing to post $250,000 bond after he was charged with 26 felony and misdemeanor criminal counts filed by state police.

The investigation began last month after Troop A was informed of an incident reported to ChildLine, the state’s abuse hotline, Trooper David Wineland said.

Police initially interviewed a woman who reported witnessing one of the alleged assaults.

Wineland said during a a forensic interview with child welfare specialists, the boy detailed specific incidents including the one that the woman said she witnessed.

During an interview with police, Hoffer admitted sexually assaulting the child and sharing pornography with him, Wineland said.

Hoffer was charged with multiple counts of aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault of a child, indecent assault and rape of a child.

According to online court dockets, Hoffer has no prior criminal record in Pennsylvania.

He did not have an attorney listed in court documents.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled June 1.
