Dodgers: Tommy Kahnle Headed to the Injured List Again

The Dodgers are doing everything they can to ensure that they have arms ready to go. That includes moving guys around between Triple-A and the big league squad. But they also needed to make a few different moves that landed guys on the injured list this week.

That includes Tommy Kahnle, who had just come off the IL from his 2020 Tommy John surgery. The Dodgers are calling it right forearm inflammation and placed him on the 15-day IL. Kahnle has appeared in just 4 games this season.

Ideally, Kahnle was supposed to be the guy to hand the ball off to Blake Treinen and Craig Kimbrel. But his numbers so far have not been the elite stuff the Dodgers were hoping for. He has pitched to a 6.75 ERA across 4 innings of work, and he has already allowed 2 homeruns.

The Dodgers added Justin Bruihl, Mitch White, and David Price to the bullpen mix on Tuesday. So while Kahnle’s absence isn’t ideal they do have fresh arms that can go multiple innings. And given the timing of the number of games lately, that’s ideal.
