TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A Toledo woman charged for killing her ex-boyfriend was convicted on Tuesday.

Court records show Tyrefa Hill pleaded guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter in the death of Derrick Kimble. She was originally facing a Murder charge in the case, to which she pleaded not guilty, but later entered a guilty plea to the lesser charge.

Judge Linda Jennings sentenced Hill to at least 11 years in prison with a maximum term of 16.5 years in prison. An additional 8 years was imposed due to firearm specifications.

Police say Kimble died from a gunshot wound to the chest in April of 2022. Hill turned herself in the same day.

Hill and Kimble had two children together.
