Mercer County Meth Defendant Facing New Charges While Out On Bond

A New Boston man awaiting trial in a 2020 meth case has been arrested this week for resisting a peace officer. 54-year-old Lester Ward was taken into custody Wednesday on a Mercer County warrant. He is being held in the Mercer County Jail on $30,000 bond. He is also facing a DUI charge.

The Class X felony meth count was filed in January of 2020 after Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputies, Quad Cities MEG agents, and Illinois State Police executed a search warrant at his residence. Bond was set at $400,000 in that case, but he posted ten percent and was released in the summer of 2020. He is due back in court June 21.
