Astros starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi said he feared he ruptured his achilles when he was taken off the Fenway Park field on a stretcher after the fifth inning on Monday night, but an MRI revealed he only suffered "sprains and strains of other ligaments" around his ankle and foot.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Odorizzi said he felt a "large pop" when he came off the mound to cover first base on a ground ball in the fifth inning, and the stretcher made things appear worse than they really were.

Odorizzi told the Chronicle he will pitch again this season, though there is no timetable for a return. He was wearing a boot on his left foot and walking without crutches.

After three poor starts to begin the season, where he allowed nine runs in nine innings, Odorizzi has held opponents to two earned runs in his last four starts, covering 22.2 innings.
