Three people were arrested after a high-speed chase and a bicycle pursuit Wednesday near Glenwood, Iowa, according to the Mills County Sheriff's Office.Around 4:35 p.m., a Mills County Deputy observed a gray Nissan Maxima traveling 103 mph in a 55 mph zone on Highway 34 near 195th Street and attempted a traffic stop, according to authorities. The vehicle fled and pursuit was initiated. According to law enforcement, the vehicle, which was driving recklessly, entered Glenwood city limits and officers with Glenwood Police Department joined the pursuit. Authorities said the vehicle crashed into a residence near N. Grove and 6th streets and three suspects ran from the vehicle, while two subjects stayed inside the vehicle.A Glenwood Police Officer pursued one of the subjects who fled and used a taser to take the suspect into custody without injury, according to law enforcement.Authorities with the Mills County K9 Unit, Glenwood Police Department K9 Unit, Fremont County K9 Unit and the Mills County drone team established a perimeter. A post was also made on social media with the description of the two other subjects who fled. According to law enforcement, they received a call shortly after that a young African American male matching the description of one of the subjects was seen riding a bicycle westbound near 195th Street and Highway 34.Authorities found the suspect, who denied being involved, but law enforcement said he was soaking wet and covered in mud. An officer also noticed a new Nissan key on the ground near the suspect, and authorities said they determined that the suspect was the registered owner of the vehicle that crashed. Law enforcement also said that the bicycle was reported as stolen.Law enforcement received calls about a young African American male matching the description of the other suspect near Glenbrook Drive. Authorities said a perimeter was established and the suspect was taken into custody following a short foot pursuit.Hassen Mohamed was taken into custody for felony eluding, interference with official acts, reckless driving, theft and multiple driving citations. Zouberou Issifou and Nauk Pal were booked on interference with official acts.The two suspects who stayed at the vehicle were detained and were later released without charges. Authorities checked on the residents at the house and reported that they needed no medical assistance.The incident is being investigated by the Mills County Sheriff's Office and the Glenwood Police Department.More headlines
