George T. ‘Tom’ Hubbs
George T. “Tom” Hubbs, 88, of Anna, died Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.
He was born on July 10, 1933, in Anna, the son of James Ray and Florence Ann Haire Hubbs.
He married Barbara Sue Templeton on May 22, 1955, in Anna. She preceded him in death on Aug. 29, 2016.
Mr. Hubbs is survived by his son, Greg Hubbs of Anna; grandchildren Lyndsey Hubbs and Emily Hubbs; great-grandchildren Clayton Thomas Hubbs and Ella Clara Hubbs; siblings May King, Betty Carter and Harold Hubbs; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Sue Hubbs; a daughter-in-law, Angela Hubbs; and a brother, Doris Hubbs.
Mr. Hubbs was a member of Anna Heights Baptist Church in Anna. He was a musician and loved playing steel guitar. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Tom loved his family.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with the Rev. LaRue Parr officiating.
Interment was in the Anna Cemetery. Graveside military rites were conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard military honor team of Marion.
