Former Pitt OT Lands At Charlotte

Former Pitt lineman Michael Statham is headed south to play for the 49ers next season.

PITTSBURGH -- A former Pittsburgh Panthers offensive lineman officially exited the transfer portal on Wednesday afternoon after finding a new home. Michael Statham, a former three star recruit from the class of 2020, announced on Twitter that he had committed to Charlotte.

6-foot-7, 370-pound Statham did not appear in any games during his two years with the Panthers. Pitt's line has featured a lot of the same characters during Statham's time with the program and with every starter from the 2021 team set to return in 2022, the possibility of consistent playing time was slim.

As a recruit, Statham was a consensus top-30 player in the state of Maryland. He payed for the football powerhouse St. Frances Academy and racked up Power Five offers from Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Syracuse and West Virginia in addition to Pitt.

He is immediately eligible.
