APSO arrests Donaldsonville man wanted in connection to shooting incident

DONALDSONVILLE, La. (WAFB) - A Donaldsonville man, who was wanted in connection to a shooting incident that happened earlier this month in Ascension Parish, is now behind bars.

According to Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested Toran Munson, 37, of Donaldsonville, on Saturday afternoon.

The shooting incident Munson is accused of committing occurred on Tuesday, May 10 at 8:06 p.m. near Oak Street and West Sixth Street in Donaldsonville.

Sheriff Bobby Webre said responding deputies found a man sitting inside of a truck that had been hit by multiple gunshots.

The victim told deputies that he was outside of the truck during the shooting and was not hit by gunfire, said Webre.

According to APSO, on Saturday, May 21, around 1:30 p.m., deputies were informed that Munson’s vehicle had been identified near LA 941.

The sheriff’s office reports that the suspect led deputies on a several-mile pursuit to the South Southwood subdivision off Highway 30 in Gonzales where he abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers with Gonzales Police and Baton Rouge Police Department helped APSO deputies secure a perimeter around the subdivision, and after a brief manhunt, APSO SWAT located Munson in a resident’s backyard, according to APSO.

Munson is being charged with attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and aggravated damage of property. Further charges are pending.
