Two Suspected Thieves Arrested After Lengthy Foot Chase

By Tom Stanton May 18, 2022 | 12:32 PM

Lancaster County Sheriff’s deputies caught two suspected catalytic converter thieves after a 20 minute foot chase Tuesday afternoon.  Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says they responded to a suspicious vehicle call across from a dairy farm near Southwest 56th Street and West Pioneers Boulevard.

“As deputies were responding out there the vehicle pulled forward and got high centered,” says Chief Deputy Ben Houchin.   He says the driver and passenger ran from the vehicle and led to what Houchin calls one of the department’s longest foot chases.

“We ended up catching both of them and bringing them back to the car.  We find four catalytic converters freshly cut off the vehicles  that were sitting on the farmstead out there,” Houchin says.  The also found saws in their backpacks.

31 year old Chase Larsen and 27 year old Dakota Wagner were booked for possession of burglar tools and possession of stolen property.  They were also cited for trespassing, obstructing and theft.
