According to Metro Nashville Police, detectives assigned to all eight precincts continue to work to identify three male suspects responsible for more than 80 business burglaries, primarily restaurants, in which they quickly make entry by smashing through windows and doors before going directly to offices and registers and fleeing with cash and small safes.
These smash and grab break-ins began in early February and have occurred across Nashville. In some of the break-ins, the suspects fled in a black 2016-2019 black Chevrolet Malibu with dark tinted windows.
Metro Police tell FOX 17 News a business in South Nashville was hit just Tuesday night. Police say the suspects are using sledgehammers and crowbars to break in.
The general manager of Chopper in East Nashville says the bar was broken into last Friday morning.
“It's a pretty violating feeling to have someone break in at night and try to take something from you. But we are feeling kind of refreshed because we received a lot of support from our regulars and our community. " said Nick Thaxton, GM of Chopper.
Police say another location targeted was Oscar's Taco Shop. Also early Friday, just minutes apart from the other break in. The alarm went off and surveillance video showed someone going through their register.
Metro Police say the crooks are targeting businesses all over Davidson County. Security video shows the suspects may be in a black Chevrolet.
Business owners and employees are encouraged to be vigilant while open and prior to closing as the suspects may be in the area, watching, prior to breaking in.
