Eve Gigliotti Replaces Sarah Connolly in Performance of Met Opera’s ‘Hamlet’

By Francisco Salazar

The Metropolitan Opera has announced another cast change for its production of Brett Dean’s “Hamlet.”

The company noted that Eve Gigliotti will sing the role of Gertrude on May 18, replacing Sarah Connolly.

Gigliotti is the latest jump-in for the performance as Daniel Moody and Eric Jurenas will take over the roles of Guildenstern and Rosenkrantz.

The mezzo has been performing at the Met this season in productions of “Elektra,” “Rigoletto,” and “Boris Godunov.” She is currently in rehearsals for “The Rake’s Progress.”

Gigliotti joins a cast that includes Brenda Rae, Allan Clayton, David Butt Philip, John Relyea, Rodi Gilfry, William Burden, and Jaques Imbrailo. Nicholas Carter conducts the production by Neil Armfield.
