The man found guilty in the 2020 death of a young boy in Troy has been sentenced to serve the rest of his life behind bars.
Kevin Cox, 42, was convicted back in April at the Rensselaer County Courthouse following a two-week trial. He's guilty of murdering six-year-old Davonte Paul.
Back on February 9, 2020, Troy Police were called to a home where Paul lived with his mother (Nicole Bauer), Cox, and his two-year-old sister. Cox was Bauer's boyfriend.
Police say Bauer had told them Cox drowned her son in a bathtub.
The little boy was taken to Albany Medical Center and remained in a coma on life support until his death on February 11, 2020. Officials say he died from hypothermic shock.

Rensselaer County District Attorney, Mary Pat Donnelly, says Cox punished the child by forcing him to sit outside on a snow-covered deck for hours. The DA says they're satisfied with the outcome of his sentencing.
"Mr. Cox had no regard for that little boy. The judge said exactly what I've been saying - animals have an instinct to protect their young, they have an instinct to keep them warm...and he didn't even think twice about the punishment he imposed that poor little boy. So...he got exactly what he deserved, and we're satisfied with the sentence," added Donnelly.

During the sentencing, Cox told the judge that he wasn't afraid of prison and that he was wrongly convicted.
