Whitesville eliminates Lady Cougars 11-7

The Whitesville Trinity Lady Raiders eliminated the Lady Cougars 11-7 on Tuesday at Butler County, thus ending the Lady Cougars’ season.

Cassidy Morris went 4-for-4 with a three-run home run for the Lady Raiders, while Katherine Hibbitt was 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

The Lady Cougars took an early one-run lead after scoring in the first inning when catcher Hannah Franklin single to right to score Addy Bratcher, who had singled leading off the inning. The Lady Raiders responded with three runs in their half of the first and never trailed again.

Grayson County scored twice in the second inning on a single by Raigan Cave and a groundout by Kayla Tubb.

Whitesville added three more runs to lead 6-3 in the second. Left-fielder Madison McDaniel drove in one run with a fly ball out to center before Hibbitt drove in two with a double to the fence in right.

Whitesville then made it 7-3 with a single, unearned run in the third, then Morris and Hibbitt went back-to-back in the fifth, with Morris knocking in three runs with a shot over the wall in left-center, then Hibbitt taking starter and loser Mallory Lindsey deep to left to make it 11-3.

Finally, the Cougars scored four times in the sixth after two were out with Shelby Dais driving in two with a double to left-center and Franklin singling to right.

Lindsey went 4 2/3 innings, giving up all 11 runs on 12 hits. Josie Sims went the final inning and a third without giving up a hit.
