Coming off of a heartbreaking weekend in Milwaukee, let's start off with some positive, light-hearted news, shall we? 

Tuesday was the Brewers organization's annual #KindnessInMKE event. 

Nearly every member of the club, including players, coaches and front office staff, surprised individuals and charities across southeastern Wisconsin with "random acts of kindness," according to a news release. 

So, if you saw Christian Yelich bagging groceries at a West Allis Pick 'n Save, no, that's not his new side hustle or part of his pre-game warmup. 

He was there picking up $2,500 worth of customers' grocery tabs and bagging for them.

Let’s talk business

Sunday marked the last time the Journal Sentinel's newspaper would be printed at the Burnham Street printing press in West Milwaukee. Newspaper publisher Gannett announced in March that it would move the printing of its 11 Wisconsin newspapers, including the JS, to its printing plant in Peoria, Illinois. Newspaper companies like Gannett are finding themselves with too much printing capacity, but at the same time, digital subscriptions have been rising. Here's what JS editor George Stanley said the printing location change will mean. 

A proposed music venue will not be built next to Maier Festival Park in the Third Ward after all. Concert promoter FPC Live and Milwaukee World Festival Inc. said the project as announced will no longer proceed in a joint statement Friday. "We remain committed to developing this state-of-the-art project in Milwaukee, preparing the city for the next several decades of live entertainment, and we will announce more details in due time," Charlie Goldstone, president of FPC Live, said in a statement. 

Kohl's Corp. shareholders voted recently (and overwhelmingly) to elect the company's slate of directors. What does that mean? The company avoided having its board taken over by activist investors — for now. With the vote, shareholders chose to allow current management to pursue a strategy of transforming Kohl's "from a department store to a more focused lifestyle concept,” CEO Michelle Gass said in March. But the possibility that the retailer will be sold to one of many bidders remains. Kohl’s board and management do not seem overly enthusiastic about selling the company. But David Swartz, an analyst with Morningstar Research Services who has been following Kohl's for the last three years, said the company should be seriously considering the offers that are being made.

Out and about 

Kendrick Lamar, one of the greatest rappers of all time, is returning to Milwaukee for his first show in the city in seven years. He'll be stopping at Fiserv Forum on Aug. 18 on his "Big Steppers Tour." Lamar's cousin Baby Keem and Tanna Leone will be opening. Tickets go on sale to the general public at noon May 20 on Lamar's website, oklama.com, and at the box office and through Ticketmaster. Presales begin May 19 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. for Cash App users. 

We might as well chant this together: Wheel! Of! Fortune! The first-ever "Wheel of Fortune LIVE!" tour is coming to the Miller High Life Theatre on Dec.7. It'll be similar to the syndicated television game show, but is not for broadcast. The live show's hosts will be announced later. Tickets, which can be found at wheeloffortunelive.com, go on sale at 10 a.m. May 20, with pre-sale availability starting at noon May 19.

Country superstar Carrie Underwood is bringing her "Denim & Rhinestones" tour to Fiserv Forum on Oct. 23. And she'll be bringing along Jimmie Allen, who I saw perform after a March Admirals game — and would definitely see again. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the box office (1111 N. Phillips Ave.) and through ticketmaster.com. 

Don’t go hangry

Bay View, represent. 

Hue Vietnamese Restaurant recently opened in its newly built location, 2699 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. It's just two doors away from its original spot, which opened in 2010. While the restaurant's food is taken "very seriously," the point of the new Hue is to be upbeat and fun. The space has a much larger kitchen, a patio and is a bit more kid-friendly. 

Bellis Bistro, known for its dishes such as fried chicken and flaming lobster, has opened in its new space, 2643 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. “It’s small, intimate,” said owner Charmice Dodson. “We wanted to make customer service upscale.” The restaurant features four-course dinner seatings and weekend brunch seatings. Every Sunday at midnight, Bellis opens its online-only reservations at bellisbistro.com (through Resy.com) for tables the following Friday through Sunday. Diners who are just dropping in are welcome to sit at the bar or open tables. The restaurant will also start offering takeout ordered through its website on several weekdays. 

Pramoth Lertsinsongserm, an operator of Rice N Roll Bistro, which serves sushi, Thai and Japanese entrees at two Milwaukee-area locations, wants to develop a $2.5 million eatery project in Bay View. 

Here are the talkers

“I need parents to step up and to make sure they’re taking responsibility for their kids in this city,” Mayor Cavalier Johnson said Tuesday at Roosevelt Creative Arts Middle School. Johnson, Police Chief Jeff Norman and Milwaukee Public Schools Superintendent Keith Posley talked with the students as the city continues to grapple with gun violence, car theft and reckless driving.

Next time you go to the Milwaukee County Zoo, you'll have four baby critters to look forward to seeing. Four river otter pups have emerged from their indoor holding area to the outdoor Otter Passage habitat. Corky, Bailey, Cedrick and Evie are doing well and are able to swim on their own under the watchful eyes of their mom.
