MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two teenagers are facing serious charges after police said they carjacked multiple people in the same day, and they said these incidents happened at busy shopping centers.

Both suspects in this case are minors – they’re only 13 and 15-years-old. Now, they’re facing a whole mess of charges.

Police said the first incident happened outside the Michael’s in the Wolfchase area when two women were getting in their car around noon Monday.

Investigators said one of the teens grabbed the driver’s side door, pointed a gun at the driver and forced the women out of the vehicle.

He jumped in and sped away, followed by a Honda sedan.

Police said the two teens then carjacked another woman at Oak Court Mall later that afternoon.

They said she was pulling out of her parking spot, when one of the teens stopped the car and forced her out of the vehicle at gunpoint.

He allegedly pistol-whipped her, then drove off in her Buick Regal, followed once again by that Honda sedan. Officers eventually located the stolen vehicle in North Memphis at Chelsea and University.

The 15-year-old driver tried to get away, but lost control and crashed. The 13-year-old was caught minutes later, outside a nearby home on Merchant Street.

Both teens have been charged with carjacking and aggravated assault.

Jonathan Kotsch is a manager at Michael’s. He says he hopes the two teens can turn their lives around.

“There’s always hope,” he said. “If you trust in God you can accomplish anything but those kids they did something wrong and they’re going to have to learn the hard way.”
