CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Half Day Cafe’s Wyoming location has closed due to staffing issues, according to their Facebook page.

On Tuesday, Half Day Cafe owner Dale Hipsley posted a video and message announcing the decision.

“We came to a realization we don’t have a kitchen staff,” Hipsley explained. “We can’t run a restaurant without a kitchen staff. My wife, bless her heart, was working as hard as she could. She’s pretty good, but she ain’t that good.”

Hipsley says he thought once he got through the pandemic, his business would get right back on track to where it was.

“Between staffing, supply chain and inflation, holy cow, it’s harder than it was two years ago,” Hipsley said.

Hundreds of people commented on the post, many of whom offered thanks for the 16 years of business in Wyoming.

Half Day Cafe customer Lisa Holthus saw the Facebook post and says she “shed a few tears.”

“I decided to leave some flowers as almost like a memorial, and thought maybe there are other people in the community that might feel the same way and want there to be some way to let the Hipsley know that we would miss them,” said Holthus.

Even though the Wyoming location is closing, Half Day Cafe says their Mason location will remain open.
