Police request help searching for missing father of former Auburn standout Neiko Thorpe

Local police in DeKalb, Georgia are asking for help in the search for 68-year old Glen Thorpe, who is the father of former NFL cornerback and Auburn standout Neiko Thorpe, after he went missing on Monday. According to local news reports, he was last seen at a gas station in Decatur and could be suffering from dementia.

Thorpe is described as a 6-foot-6, 175-pound man with brown eyes and a bald head. Police have not provided a description of the clothes he had on at the time of his disappearance.

As the search for Neiko Thorpe’s father continues, there are few updates from the local authorities. However, they ask anyone with information to call the Special Victims Unit at 770-724-7710.

Now 32-years old and out of the NFL last season, Neiko Thorpe suffered multiple injuries in his final season which led him to become a free agent. The Tucker, Georgia native went undrafted out of Auburn but established himself as a reserve cornerback and key special teams player on multiple NFL teams.

While playing for the Tigers in college, Thorpe won the 2011 BCS National Championship and received multiple All-SEC honors throughout his time. He then entered the 2012 NFL Draft after four seasons which saw him rack up 279 career tackles and seven interceptions.

Once in the NFL, Thorpe spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs. However he then played in the CFL for the Toronto Argonauts in 2013 before making an NFL return in 2014. After two seasons with the Oakland Raiders, he briefly joined the Indianapolis Colts before spending the final five seasons of his career with the Seattle Seahawks.

In his NFL career, Thorpe finished with 97 total tackles and one interception with nine pass deflections. He also added one fumble recovery in that time.
