Mike Francesa still isn’t impressed by Aaron Judge.
Despite Judge posting league-leading numbers in home runs (14) and being near the top in RBIs (30) and hits (41), Francesca said the New York Yankees should hold off on throwing him a huge contract after this season. Per ESNY:
“The Yankees made him a very realistic offer. Let him win what he wins, let him put up a huge season, let him do everything. And then worry about it. The Yankees should not back off. He is going to be (31) years old (next) year,” Francesca said on his BetRivers podcast.

Judge has been trying to get the most money he can from the Yankees. New York reportedly offered him an 8-year, $213.5 million contract before the 2022 season, but they couldn’t come to an agreement. Judge is set to be a free agent this summer and wants a Mike Trout-level contract.
If Francesca was in Yankees general manager Brian Cashman’s role, he wouldn’t offer anywhere near that contract.
“I personally, as a club, would not give him more than six years,” Francesa said. “I’d pay him a high rate for the six years. But I don’t want him at 37, 38, 39 and I don’t even want to put him in the lineup and I’m paying him a fortune. I don’t want those players on my team. I would be willing to take a risk that I could find another player I could pay that would be of the same ilk. I would run that risk and I would pay him the way I want to pay him.”
