WE WANT TO SEND IT OUT W NO TO 40/29'S LYDIA FIELDER WHO HAS MORE. POLICE SAFELY STOPPED A PICKUP TRUCK HERE IN ROGS ER THIS MORNING THAT WAS TRAVELING THE WRONG WAY ON 4I-9. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NO CRASH AND NOBODY WAS HURT, BUTE W SPOKE WITH A WITNESS WHO SAYS THINGS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WSEOR "as I passed, they went áWHOOSHá right by me. So I knew they were dviring at that point," DAVID DEXTER SAYS HE W AS DRIVING HOME FROM HIS LATE SHIFT AROUND 2-15 WEDNESDAY MORNING WHEN HE ENCOUNTERED A WRONG-WAY DRIVER. DEXTER SAYS HE STARTED SOUTHBOUND ON TEINRSTATE 49 AT THE 14-TH STREET EXIT IN BENTONVILLE. HE PASSED A VEHICLE IVG DR NORTHBOUND IN THE SOUTHBOUND LANES NEAR EXIT 71 IN SPRINGDALE <> "they were driving le ik they were in complete control. They weren't swerving they weren't - That's the whole reason I thought they were at a stop at first because the headlights, they weren 't moving around li ke somebody would going around curves or bumps or anything like that" THE WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE SAYS THAT HIVECLE WAS A WHITE FO RD TRUCK, DRIVEN BY AN ELDERLY COUPLE. THE DRIVER WAS A MAN WHO - ACCORDING TO HIS WIFE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT - FFSUERS WITH EARLY ONSET DEMENT. IA WASH CO DEPUTIES FOLLOWED THE TRUCK TO TRY AND STOP . THE REPORT SAYS THE DRIVER DID NOT RESPOND LTOIGHTS, SIRENS OR THE POLICE INTERCOM. SO THE OFFICER USED A SPIKE STRIP TO GETHE T VEHIC LE PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. THE INCIDENT REPORT FROM THE WASHINGTON COUY NT SHERIFF'S OFFICE SAYS ONCE STOPPED, THE WIFE WAS VISIBLY SHAKEN U P. SHE TOLD POLICE SHE TOLD HER HUSBAND HE WAS DRIVING THE WRONG WAY, BUT IT'S AS IF HE NEVER HEARD HER. SHE SAID THERE WAS NOT ANYTHING SHE COULD DO TO HELP STOP HIM. <> " I thought to hug the white line as close as I cou tld give them room. But I didn't think anything other than that until they ntwe by me. And when they did, I kind of swerd vea little bit like in surprise. But there was a dangerous situation." THE COUPLE WAS TREATED AT THE HOSPITAL THEN TAKEN HOME TO ROGERS BY BENTON COUNTY OFFICERS. THE REPORT SAYS THE COLEUP ISN'T FACING ANY CHARG

A wrong-way driver created a dangerous situation on I-49 early Wednesday morning.An older couple got confused and entered I-49 in Rogers the wrong way by mistake, according to Arkansas State Police.Washington County deputies spotted the vehicle and followed to try to stop it.The deputies eventually used a spike strip to get the vehicle to pull over.The couple was treated and taken home.Watch the video above to learn more.

An older couple got confused and entered I-49 in Rogers the wrong way by mistake, according to Arkansas State Police.

Washington County deputies spotted the vehicle and followed to try to stop it.
