Winston-Salem police arrest man wanted for Danville, VA murder

Winston-Salem police officers have arrested a man that was wanted for murder in Danville, Virginia.Around 9:30 a.m. on May 17, Danville police responded to the Purdum Woods Apartments complex, off Richmond Boulevard, for reports of a shooting.Officers responded and found Brandon Gore, 29, of Danville, suffering from a gunshot wound in the breezeway of the 'K' building. Gore was pronounced dead at the scene.Andrew Jovanni Menjivar, 24, of Winston-Salem was identified as the homicide suspect. Menjivar ran away from the complex after the crime, keeping possession of the gun used, police said.A K-9 was used in the search for Menjivar on Tuesday, but the search yielded no results. "The early investigation shows the deceased and the suspect were acquaintances and this was not a random act, nor does it have any gang-related nexus," a news release said. On May 20, Manjivar was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.Police said that he will be transported back to Virginia for trial.
